Energy system Ypenburg (Carmiggelt, Couperus, Marco Polo)
In your home, you have an individual heat pump. This heat pump receives source heat and cold from a collective energy system with closed soil loops. The system allows you to comfortably heat your home when it is colder and cool it in the hot summer months. Moreover, you always have hot tap water.
Homes in Ypenburg are divided into zones based on the connection capacity of the source heat.
Functioning in the home
Thermostat
The thermostat allows you to adjust the temperature. When you adjust the desired temperature on the thermostat, the thermostat sends a signal to the heat pump and it starts supplying heating or cooling.
Here you can read our tips:
- Choose a room temperature and refrain from changing it as much as possible
- Since your home is equipped with underfloor heating and cooling, it may take some time before you notice the effect of a change in the set room temperature. Change the temperature only when it is really necessary
- If you have underfloor heating and cooling and you do not want to use the heating and/or cooling temporarily, just change the set temperature by a few degrees.
Underfloor heating and cooling
The heat pump is connected to your underfloor heating/floor cooling system. The underfloor heating and cooling system heats and cools your home. Therefore, pay close attention when choosing a suitable floor. You will find all the important conditions in the brochure on the document page.
The heatpump
The heat pump is controlled by your living room thermostat. When you request heating, the heat pump turns on and produces heat. This heat is delivered by the heat pump to your underfloor heating system. This is how your home heats up. When the heat pump produces heat and delivers it to your home, the heat pump extracts heat from the collective source system. Indirectly, you thus use source heat to cool your home.
If you want to cool your home, set your living room thermostat to cool. Again, the thermostat sends a signal to the heat pump. This time, no heat is produced but the heat pump draws cooling directly from the collective source system. This cooling is brought to the right temperature by the heat pump (so there is no condensation in your home) and then delivered to your floor cooling system.
Property
Do you rent a property?
Then the heat pump and the living room thermostat are owned by Energiek, all other installation parts in the home are owned by the owner of your home. This is your landlord. See the schematic on the right.
Handle the heat pump and thermostat with care. Do not hang or mount anything on, on, above or below the heat pump. The place where the heat pump is located must be and remain easily accessible, for example for emergencies, malfunctions or for inspection or repair by or on behalf of Energiek. Also ensure that there are no objects near the heat pump that could damage it. Is something damaged anyway? If so, contact us immediately.
To produce heat and cold, the heat pump needs electricity. This electricity used is measured by your electricity meter. So you pay for the electricity consumed by the heat pump. Think of it as a rental car, where you also pay for the fuel costs.
Are you the property owner?
Then the heat pump and the living room thermostat belong to you, as do all other installation parts in the house. See the schematic on the right.
Handle the heat pump and thermostat with care. Do not hang or mount anything on, on, above or below the heat pump. We recommend keeping the area where the heat pump is located accessible for e.g. emergencies, breakdowns or for inspection or repair.

Indoor installation of your home, not the property and responsibility of Energiek
The indoor installation in your home is not the property of Energiek. However, the indoor installation has a major impact on the functioning of our energy system. If you experience problems with the heating or cooling of your home, always check that your indoor installation is working correctly first.
Modify, expand or replace?
In a house with a connection to our energy system, installing, expanding or changing the (floor) heating system or a (room) thermostat works slightly differently than usual. This is because all changes or additions must meet our connection requirements. We advise you to report changes made to your heating system to Energiek and to have these changes made by a certified installer. This is because they can also adjust the settings of your entire heating system to the modification.
